1. What kind of equipment do you use?

I photograph with two Canon 5D MKIV cameras. For lenses, I love the uniquely romantic blurry backgrounds that prime lenses create. Currently, my favorite lenses are my Canon 35mm 1.4 L II and Canon 85mm 1.4 IS. 


2. How far in advance should we book with you?

For weddings, I usually book about six months to one year out. If your wedding is coming up soon, feel free to check with me if your date is still open!  For Senior Portraits and Family sessions I typically fill up about six months in advance so book early to guarantee the season you'd like your session in!  We take a limited amount of Senior Portrait and Family sessions so that we are able to devote enough time to each one to deliver the best quality of images as quickly as possible and to allow for rescheduling due to bad weather.

3. Could you describe your style?

My style of photography could best be described as artistic photojournalism. I love to document your day by capturing true emotions while using an artistic perspective and unique composition to create a beautiful representation of each event, your relationships and personalities. I also take traditional posed photographs of each couple, wedding party, and family.

During a wedding day, I am constantly on the move taking as many photographs as I possibly can to capture each detail of your day.  Detail shots are important as they represent your unique style and are often a result of many months of planning!  For the bride, groom, and wedding party photos, I work with you to have fun and come up with creative poses that showcase your relationships best!  After the formal photos, it's back to becoming part of the background of your day and capturing things from a distance while still being available to you if you have a specific shot request!

4. What kind of locations do you use?

I use a variety of both urban and natural locations for Senior Portraits and Family sessions. Check out our "Locations" Galleries for some inspiration or suggestions for your session.  For senior portraits and family sessions, I generally stay within the northern metro but also use downtown Minneapolis depending on the type of setting the client prefers.


5. Do you travel?

Yes! We are based out of the North side of the Twin Cities in Minnesota but do travel for weddings!  We have been honored to cover several out-of-state destination weddings! Please contact me for questions on destination weddings or locations outside of the Twin Cities to determine traveling fees.  Due to the increase in the number of bookings for family sessions and how quickly our schedule fills, we are unable to travel outside of the metro for family and senior portrait sessions.

6. When do you typically schedule sessions?

I love to schedule photo sessions in the evening when the lighting is best and typically finish about one hour before sunset. Early morning works great as well if you are an early-riser! I am available on both weekdays and Saturdays during the summer and select evenings and Saturdays during the fall, winter, & spring.


7. What should we wear?

Clothing should be comfortable and reflect you as a person or family. Typically couples and families coordinate colors, tones, or styles with each other and the backdrops that they have chosen. For example, sessions in the park or with more natural backdrops work great with neutral colors including tans, blues, greens, etc.  Have something fun and edgy to wear downtown?  Feel free to go all out with those great bright colors.  Anything you feel confident in will work great for me!

8. Do you recommend an engagement session?

Absolutely! The engagement session is a great way for us to get to know each other before your big day. It’s important that I can get to know you as a couple so that you are comfortable with my style of shooting - that way your wedding images will truly reflect your relationship & unique personalities!  Engagement sessions are a lot of fun and allow for creative options for Save-the-Dates!


9. Can we bring our pet?

Yes! I love including pets, props, and other things that reflect who you are!  Just check with me first to be sure the location we are using allows animals.  Please allow for another person to come along to supervise your pet or provide a safe place for them to stay during photos that do not include him/her.

10. Do you edit all of the photos that you deliver?

Absolutely! They will all be edited; usually in both color and black & white.  We are unique in that we edit each and every photo that we deliver - not just a select few for an album or portfolio.  We use an editing software called Lightroom that allows us to edit hundreds of photos at a time.  We go photo by photo and invest time adjusting color, exposure, cropping, and some spot removal to ensure each photo is stunning and print-worthy.  So if you want to blow up an image of your table settings you can! :)  Our editing style is typically full color, bright, sharp, and beautiful!  For black and white photos we love contrast and a smooth feel.  We are both pretty perfectionistic when it comes to the product we deliver!


11. Do you require a deposit?

I only require a deposit for weddings at the time the wedding date is reserved. For all other sessions, the full payment is due at the end of the session.

12. Do you have a studio?

No. I prefer to use outdoor settings but do have a few indoor options if the weather does not cooperate on the day of your session or we can work on rescheduling if possible.


13. How can I view my pictures after the photo session?

I provide a private, password protected, online gallery of all of your photos that you are free to share with family and friends! You, or anyone you give access to, can log in at any time to view the images, order professional prints from my site, or download them to your computer to print them anywhere you choose.


14. How quickly do you deliver the photos?

We strive to deliver our images as quickly as possible so that you are able to share them right away!  Average time for delivering a wedding has been 2 to 6 weeks following the event.  Typically, family sessions and senior portraits are delivered within 1 to 2 weeks following the session.

15. Do you give clients the rights to the photos?

Absolutely! We provide high resolution images that are free from watermarks or logos. You will have rights to print the photos or post them online. We just retain the rights to the photos to use for the promotion of our business such as posting them to our website and Facebook page.


16. What if we need to reschedule?

We ask that you let us know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule so that we can fill your session time with someone on our cancellation list. If we need to reschedule due to bad weather, we will call you on the day of the session to see if we can adjust the time or if we need to adjust the day of the session. We are always very flexible with working with you and your schedule!
